Trawsfynydd Holiday Village is ideally located for a mountain biking holiday or break. Our log cabins are 2 miles from Coed y Brenin Forest mountain bike trails and 30 mins drive away from the Marin trail at Gwydyr Forest, Penmachno Trail just south of Betws-y-Coed and the Mach trails in Machynlleth.
Gwydyr Forest just north of Betws-y-Coed is approximately 25 miles/30 mins drive away from our accommodation. It offers miles of technical single track mountain biking and the great views are a bonus. In particular the Marin Trail offers a long loop of smooth single track descents, but by starting it at different points you can shorten it and simply ride the best sections again by using the forest roads to get you back up to the top.
The Penmachno Trail is just south of Betws-y-Coed and offers a challenge, with some steady climbs taking in some more spectacular scenery. The trail uses plenty of forest roads but also includes some decent single track incorporating bridge crossings, elevated wooden sections and stream crossings.
Machynlleth is also approx 25 miles away a
nd offers 4 mountain bike trails Mach 1, Mach 2, Mach 3 and Cli-machx Trail. The routes vary in difficulty offering everything from fast but not technical to steep and rocky for the advanced rider.
Pont Scethin Bridge is in the mountains between the sea and Coed y Brenin and is only 12 miles from site. The ride is tough and can involve some pushing if your legs aren’t up to it, but the views across the estuary and across to Cadair Idris make up for that.
